Improve the appearance of aging and sun-damaged skin
This cream is formulated to enhance the effects of each of the separate active components. In this way, the duration of the therapy might be shortened and the risk of unwanted side effects can possibly be decreased. It is commonly used for the treatment of melasma, ephelides (freckles) and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
KEY INGREDIENTS
Retinoic Acid (tretinoin) 0.05%
Retinoic acid functions in this formula as a mild irritant to facilitate the epidermal penetration of hydroquinone and to reverse the signs of sun-damaged skin. Clinical studies have shown that retinoic acid penetrates into the dermis, increases collagen, normalizes elastin and melanin production, and increases cellular turnover.
Hydroquinone 6%
Hydroquinone has an inhibitory effect on tyrosinase, the enzyme catalyzing the most important step in melanin production. Melanin is the pigment that causes the skin to darken.
Kojic Acid 3%
Kojic acid is a mild pigmentation inhibitor in plant and animal tissues, and is used in food and cosmetics to preserve or change colors of substances. It can work synergistically with hydroquinone, to give optimal results.
Hydrocortisone 0.5%
Hydrocortisone is a mild steroid that can eliminate the irritation that might be caused by either hydroquinone or retinoic acid.
