DENVER — Thousands of women flock to spas for laser treatments that leave their skin looking and feeling smooth, but lasers can be dangerous for some clients.
A procedure called Laser Genesis is making it possible for more women to enjoy younger looking skin.
Katherine Golden, a registered nurse at the Avanti Skin Care Center of Denver says many lasers can be harmful if applied to darker skin tones. The Laser Genesis treatment reads color in the skin differently and stimulates collagen to provide safe and beautiful results.
"It gives you that youthful look, the glow we need because we start looking dull as we age," Golden says.
Cynthia Mejia has had several treatments and says it's great that women of color finally have more choices when it comes to the latest beauty treatments, adding, "I think that's one of the important things, being Latina."

The number of treatments needed depends upon the problem being treated but usually ranges from four to six treatments spaced three to four weeks apart.
